About the Costa del Sol

The Casares region of Andalucia, between Estepona and Manilva is an excellent base for a holiday in this diverse region. Significant investment in new properties and the infrastructure in the area ensure that it is a relatively new holiday destination and unlike the older and traditional holiday resorts, the area is not particularly built up.
Average temperatures on the Costa del Sol range from 9-17C in the winter up to 30C in July and August, which makes it ideal for traditional summer holidays and also great if you are searching for winter sun.
Aside from the normal attractions of a beach style holiday, there are so many places to explore in this great region:
The town of Estepona is 10 minutes drive to the East and has a long promenade along the beach, numerous shops, restaurants and supermarkets. The port of Duquesa, with its harbour side restaurants is only 5 minutes drive away, whilst Marbella and Puerto Banus are also close by.
Gibraltar, with its history of sieges is just 30 minutes drive to the West and is also the best base for dolphin and whale watching, duty free shopping, boat trips to Morocco or simply a trip up the Rock of Gibraltar with its famous Barbary apes!
Casares village is a traditional Spanish White Village (Pueblo Blanco). Ronda is an old Spanish village perched astride the El Tajo gorge, which can be reached by road or a train trip from Algeciras.
There are many other towns to visit, such as Malaga, the birthplace of Picasso, which also boasts a Moorish fort; Granada which is the home of the Alhambra Palace, the supreme legacy of Islamic Spain and said to be one of the most sensual palaces ever built. Or try a day trip to Seville, the Capital city of Andalucia, home of Carmen, with Christian and Moorish monuments. Cadiz is an atmospheric city and Andalucia’s seafood capital.
The Sierra Nevada National Park is a day trip away, with its snow capped peaks most of the year round and where you can ski in the winter.
There are many cheap flights from main and regional airports in the UK to Malaga. Casa del Sol is approximately 50 minutes drive from Malaga airport, 90 minutes from Jerez aiport and 30 minutes drive from Gibraltar airport. Flight time from the UK is 21/2 - 3 hours.
